TESTIMONIALS

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Scott Saunders for about 10 years. We both are now in our 80’s. When I first came to see Dr. Saunders, I was experiencing some neurological symptoms. My prior MD did all kinds of testing, but it didn’t accomplish anything. Dr. Saunders gave me hope that we would focus on finding root causes. Now 10 years later my diet, supplements, exercise are far different, and I am far healthier, happier, and have seen some past symptoms disappear. I did have neuropathy pain, but no more; I had difficulty swallowing, but no more; I had poor test results, but now my tests show good levels. My husband has dealt with stomach and digestive problems, but he is so much better. We credit our health improvements to the care we receive from Dr. Saunders.

I was diagnosed by a competent neurologist with Alzheimer’s disease. For four years my wife was told to put me in a home. I started getting arthritis and she brought me to an acupuncturist who told her about Dr. Saunders. She made an appointment, and by the second visit he found the diagnosis of both the arthritis and the “Alzheimer’s.” I had lead toxicity. Within the thirty treatments, one per week, of chelation, everything cleared up. Now, five years later, I am still pain-free, working, and living a normal life. Since then, he has helped everyone in my family with different health problems.

Dr. Scott Saunders is a gem, in fact, an all-too-rare gem. I have known him for a long time, and I have always been impressed with his vast medical knowledge: over the years he has been able to help me significantly, as well as the friends I have referred to him.

His practice is people-friendly. It's easy to make an appointment, and you can meet with him in person, by phone, or with remote video. When you do meet, Dr. Saunders is always ready to take as much time as you need to help you with a problem and for him to get to know you.

Dr. Sanders keeps up with current medical research: time and again, I have been astonished at how much he knows. Moreover, in addition to being a good all-round medical doctor, he is also an expert with supplements, more so than anyone I know.

The best part of his practice is that he is able to truly look at your whole life – the "functional medicine" approach–so that his advice and follow-up go way beyond what you may be used to. He has the rare skill of being able to consider all the systems of the body and how they interact.

How many doctors can you say actually know you, care about you, and give you the attention you need? This is not a man who follows recipes. He is a compassionate caring person who will take the time to consider your emotions, your problems, and your social situation before he gives advice and suggests treatments.

Moreover, if you are an older person, you should know that Dr. Saunders was the medical director of a nursing home. As such, he has a practical understanding of the changes and the problems that come with aging.

Finally, once you are part of his practice, Dr. Saunders is there for you when you need him. On those few occasions when I had an immediate problem, it was easy to reach Dr. Saunders by phone for immediate advice.

Scott Saunders is the only doctor I know who gives his personal number to his patients and answers the phone himself. Actually, that in itself tells you everything you need to know.

I was complaining to my mom about how I was treated by all the doctors we had been to for my son. He had not slept a full night in his two years of life. He was getting rashes, and could not sit still, ever! Even the specialists at Johns Hopkins University hospital dismissed all my concerns because he was normal on the growth chart. They wanted to put him on drugs, but I knew that wasn’t the answer. My mom said I should talk to her doctor, Dr. Saunders, because he was really good about finding the underlying cause of problems. In the first telephone conversation he had some ideas, sent us for tests, and found the cause. In less than a week, my son was sleeping all night, and I was astonished to see him sit down and play with toys for over a half-hour! I can’t say how much this means to me. The doctor listened, took all my concerns, tested, found the cause–and fixed it. He is a true healer!

Dr. Saunders is actually rather rare, maybe even a maverick, among medical doctors. His knowledge about nutrition is phenomenal in terms of diagnoses and treatment of his clients’ health concerns. This is attributable in large part to his functional, that is holistic, approach to medicine. He certainly turned my life around in terms of understanding everything from the importance of a balanced omega fatty acid profile to making healthy food choices relating to proteins, carbohydrates, and fats in order to maintain a healthy blood sugar level. Unfortunately, this knowledge is not typically included in the traditional training in most medical schools. That is truly unfortunate because in many central concerns about health, we are what we eat!!! Finally, Dr. Saunders’ “bedside manner,” which vanished decades ago, is also an important part of the healing process as well as the functional approach to medicine. You know he really cares.

Dr. Saunders, thank you for all that you do.

I have been a patient of Dr. Saunders since 2013 and he has made a profound impact on my health and well-being. My initial reason for seeing Dr. Saunders was for gallbladder concerns. With his dietary and nutritional support recommendations, I was able to avoid surgery and the issue has not returned. Furthermore, Dr. Saunders has been able to help me manage my long-standing condition of multiple chemical sensitivities and environmental illness through a combination of dietary recommendations, nutritional IV's and supplements, and lifestyle modifications. His functional medicine approach tries to address the root cause of an illness, and he is excellent at ordering proper testing and having more in-depth conversations in order to give better medical advice/recommendations. And lastly, Dr. Saunders is very approachable, being a great educator of health and wellness, as I have learned so much through our direct conversations and his very informative emails. Thank you very much Dr. Saunders for all you have done to improve my health and well-being.

Dr. Saunders: thank you for your personal, professional, and compassionate care over many years. Without you and your willingness to treat me and “try” a variety of treatments to enable me to have a “quality“ life which includes: being a loving and supportive wife and mother, a servant to God, caretaker for mother, positive community member, and passionate hiker exploring God’s beautiful planet, and friend to our many animals.

I am right in the middle of my tour of duty reading graduate admissions. The good news is that several people who have not seen me in a while have noticed I have lost some weight, which is a good thing. It certainly seems to be the case given that my pants are not as tight in the waist although I don’t know how much this is attributable to the loss of abdominal as well as visceral fat.

…we both knew we had finally found a doctor whose thinking was the same as ours…to live healthy, without drugs. My goals included lessening my risk of diabetes, improving my thyroid function, strengthening my bones, and increasing my general well-being. I’ve successfully lost 10 pounds of belly fat, which reduced my risk of diabetes. I learned to manage my thyroid without drugs. And, I now feel great! All thanks to Dr. Saunders’ Program.

I, a patient of Dr. Saunders for over a decade, attribute the success of our patient/doctor relationship to an interesting dynamic. Namely, Dr. Saunders expects me to understand any ailment or indication of non-well-being as fully as possible.

He then guides me to necessary changes in my protocol and habits.

It is this mutual respect that makes our patient/doctor communication successful.

When I first saw Dr. Saunders, I had seen several specialists who told me I would be on medication forever to control the symptoms I was experiencing, including weight loss, low bone density, chronic pulmonary issues, and low blood pressure. I’m 75, still working and committed to living a long and healthy life while continuing to bring goodness into the world. I knew there must be more. I decided to join Dr. Saunders’ practice, which was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After rigorous examination and a lot of tests, Dr. Saunders discovered that I was not digesting my food properly. I changed my diet and added some healthy exercise and soon found I didn’t need any of the medications. I had also been told by two pulmonologists that I had a lung condition for which there was no cure. I would have to use a nebulizer daily and would be coughing for the rest of my life. Four months ago, Dr. Saunders queried that the bacteria that caused my then urinary tract infection could possibly be the same bacteria that was causing the lung issue. I have not coughed in four months! I am healthier now than I’ve been in many years, thanks to Dr. Saunders. As you can see, he is curious. He does incredible research, finds connections and brings options. He is not only brilliant in his vast knowledge of the human body, medicine and healing, he is deeply caring. His presence, warmth and attentive listening are the most potent medicine! I am forever grateful!

Thankfully, Dr. Scott Saunders has been my primary care physician for over twenty years! I am so grateful for the meticulous care he has given me through out those years and counting. He has pulled me through many painful conditions such as diverticulitis in 2016, trigeminal neuralgia and adenovirus in 2017 all with a recommended good diet and supplements, no medication or surgery. Can't thank him enough for the energy and vitality I feel these day!

Dr. Saunders, I want to share with others something that you helped me with this past year. Last June I had a total right knee replacement that was successful; however, a few months later I was experiencing a lot of pain radiating from my upper left leg. When I went to my bone surgeon to ask what was the cause, he showed me an x-ray that demonstrated that the upper thigh bone was dissolving! I was shocked and asked what I could do to remedy the loss of bone. He said there was nothing I could do–that I was in moderate pain–and to come see him when I was in excruciating pain for an operation!

I immediately contacted Dr. Saunders and asked him if there was anything I could do to stop the loss of bone and he said, “Of course there is.” And he sent me a whole page of instructions to not only stop the loss of bone, but to encourage new bone growth! Fast forward 6 months–after following Dr. Saunders instructions, I feel like I have recovered at least 90% with minimal pain now. I am continuing to follow your instructions and I praise you mightily Dr. Saunders.

I have been going to Dr. Saunders for years. He always listens to me, is never in a rush, and wants to get to the "why" of any symptom I have. He fully embraces all modes of practice–from supplements and lifestyle changes such as regular fasting to traditional medicines and referrals to specialists whenever necessary. He is very reachable, is a great communicator, and continues to do his own research on the subjects or traditional and non-traditional medicine.

"...while playing tennis, I experienced chest pain. A stress test and other diagnostic procedures revealed significant blockage of some coronary arteries. No doubt, this had led to the congestive heart failure I experienced in 2005. I was advised by my primary physician to get an angiogram which is another diagnostic procedure which in all likelihood would lead to an angioplasty. An angioplasty involves surgically clearing my coronary arteries then jamming tubes in them called stents and taking blood thinning drugs that put me at risk for hemorrhaging. I consulted with a number of healthcare professionals including those in the integrative medicine community regarding what my options could be. I was aware of the power of fasting and how abstaining from eating could lead to my body cleaning out my coronary arteries as it searched for other sources of essential nutrients needed for bodily functions when food is not ingested. I knew for a serious condition like advanced atherosclerosis I would probably need to fast for thirty days or more. I was advised by health care professionals including an M.D. that I was in danger of a fatal heart attack and it was too late to undergo a fast. Dr. Saunders told me that he did not believe it was too late. I completed the thirty day water fast under his supervision. I’m playing tennis again and have had no chest pain for three years. I have had no symptoms of congestive heart failure for seventeen years. Over that time I have implemented probably twenty other things, primarily nutritional, that contribute to cardiovascular health.

I really love Dr. Saunders' integrated approach to health care. I recently had several tests done, and really appreciated all the time he took to go over the results in detail and explain them in terms I could actually understand.  He gave me suggestions for small daily changes I could make based on the data, as well as advice on improving my circadian rhythm. I feel much more confident in my healthcare since beginning to see Dr. Saunders, and I'm thankful for how approachable he is. For the first time in my life, I actually look forward to visiting with my doctor! :)

I can honestly say Dr. Saunders is such an extraordinarily good doctor on so many levels. In addition to staying current and sharing information with his patients on emerging science and a wide range of wholistic and alternative approaches to mainstream western medical approaches, he has also been able to guide me thoughtfully through those more conventional treatments when necessary. He is always deeply curious and looking for the root cause of the issue(s). What puts me most at ease is his genuinely collaborative approach, and I always feel he is considering all angles. He thoughtfully answers all of my questions, shares his opinions, and ultimately supports me to make the best decisions for myself. He is incredibly generous with his time, patient with every inquiry, and he puts my (otherwise very anxious) child at ease. He always seems happy to hear from any member of my family with any question, big or small. From the kind and warm tone of his consultations to the generous, thorough informational sharing in his newsletters, It is so clear how invested he is in the comprehensive well-being of his patients, and how willing he is to turn over every stone to return them to health.
